This amazing campaign, styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé and shot by none other than Patrick Demarchelier in Palm Springs, California, reminded me straight away of my summer holiday. Cruising through Nevada, Death Valley, the empty, raw and arid landscape, the desert at once welcoming and foreboding, endlessly stretched on. I have a thing for empty, wild and stark scenery, (again a remnant of my African life) and feel exhilarated and blessed when faced with open spaces.
My finds in the desert, besides the brothel, were the site where the aliens supposedly landed, a cool cow-girl, an ox-wagon and a special resting area !?! No Vuitton’s in sight!
Seems so perfect…and still and calm.

To me, Louis Vuitton embodies the Spirit of Travel, the name given to its latest campaign. The singular handbags carried by the desert heroines, Michelle Williams and Monika Vinader, are the emblematic Twist and Capucines handbags, as well as the City Steamer, a new model created by Nicolas Ghesquière
